Until very recently, the Achel labels featured the hexagon "Authentic Trappist Product", but now they no longer do. The beers have not changed, nor has the production facility, but there is a substantial distinction from those that are still Trappist beers: at Achelse Kluis there are no longer monks overseeing the production. It remains a very fascinating place to visit, on the border with the Netherlands, and a very valid brewery that continues to produce excellent liquid testimonies of the tradition Flemish.
