Brewery of the Senne

La Brasserie de la Senne is the brewery that has most driven the craft beer revolution in Brussels, specializing from the start in the production of bitter and well-hopped craft beers. The brewery was born from the idea of brewmaster and beer historian Yvan De Baets and Bernard Leboucq and from a beer they brewed together in 2002, when they still didn’t have a brewery but brewed beer as a hobby: it was the first Zinnebir, which today is one of the very famous cornerstones of the entire Brasserie production.
Starting with hopped beers and especially with the goal of offering very flavorful but low-alcohol beers, totally against the Belgian tradition. And this is how true gems are born, like Zinnebir, Taras Boulba, and Brussels Calling, which perfectly combine the citrus and tropical aromas of new world hops with the legendary dryness of local yeasts .
But La Brasserie de la Senne is much more, because it also ventures into low fermentation and even into a wilder beer chapter: several beers, in fact, are produced with a native strain of Brettanomyces. An eclectic and top-quality brewery, but above all deeply connected to its city.
