We are not a brewery, we are a project. From day one, we invite our community to "join the playground." And our playground is not just about trying new flavors, but it's about stepping out of our comfort zone to try new ideas that make sense.
One of these ideas is the famous "Babylone." In 2015 we started producing the very first beer ever made with recycled bread. Since then, we are proud to see many beer production initiatives with bread in Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and beyond.
In 2022 we were certified as a "B Corp." More than a celebration, it is a milestone on the hard path that still lies ahead. Because we still have a lot to do. We are not a sustainable brewery, we are not doing more good than harm to the planet. There are things we do well, like the circular economy and the use of clean energy, but others that we do poorly, especially a CO2 emission that is too high.
Now is the time to act. Every year we will reduce our total carbon footprint by 10%, focusing on the use of gas and electricity, the production process, and the development of local raw material sourcing. Throughout 2023 we completely halted our distribution outside of Europe.
It is a humbling, fun, frustrating, and imperfect journey. The only one that makes sense.
