De Dolle Brouwers, or "The Mad Brewers," were initially four in 1980. The two Herteleer brothers, Dirk Coussée, and Bernard Veranneman. Today, the famous Kris Herteleer is at the helm of the brewery in Esen, renowned worldwide for its dry and strong beers. In fact, brewery tours are still conducted by Kris's mother, offering an experience every enthusiast should have at least once in their lifetime.
The beers, which are also distinguished by the color of the bow tie on the neck of the bottle, are true examples of the rich taste and alcohol content typical of Flemish fermentations. From the flagship Oerbier, through the famous Tripel, Dulle Teve, to the true jewel of the house, the Christmas Stille Nacht, Kris Herteleer's hand is both rough and friendly at the same time.
A brewery that made history and will remain a Belgian symbol forever.
