Nerdbrewing was founded as a brand in 2015 by gypsy brewer Hannes Gruber and Karin Carlsson. Having been a successful homebrewer for many years, Hannes had won several medals in various competitions and wanted to pursue his dream, even after Karin left the company. By starting a close and lasting collaboration with Lilla Ölfabriken and Chad Beer, the three came to share a brewery on Norbergsgatan in Malmö, with the goal of increasing production and reaching a wider audience around the world.
The name of the brewery itself and the names of the beers all derive from Hannes's background in computer science and software development. Since "sharing is caring," Nerdbrewing has brought open source from the world of software to that of craft beer, providing free access to the recipes, which can be tried by any homebrewer!
