Oud Beersel, founded in 1882, is located in Beersel, 10 km from the center of Brussels, in the southwest of the capital. It is one of the last blenders - traditional Lambic assemblers in Belgium and is well known for its beers produced according to traditional methods. The Lambic matures for up to three years in wooden barrels, after which it is blended to create Oude Geuze. Cherries are fermented in the Lambic and after a second fermentation in the bottle, Oude Kriek is born. This unique production process with spontaneous fermentation is possible in Belgium in the Pajottenland region, in the Zenne valley and in Brussels, thanks to the
presence of a specific microflora.
