To Øl

To Øl is a young craft brewery Danish founded in 2010. When To Øl was founded, we were tired of century-old breweries claiming their territories just because of age - and not tradition. Instead, we wanted to give beer a bit of youth, which is why at To Øl we make contemporary beers. We produce a wide range of powerful, provocative, fresh, and floral beers; hoppy, balanced, and complex beers, light, dark, strong, and simple. We produce the beers that we ourselves like to drink and work to create the best beers in the world. We never compromise on taste and balance and continue to push the boundaries of standard beer production. In 2005, the founders of To Øl, Tore Gynther and Tobias Emil Jensen, were studying at a high school in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, the Det Fri Gymnasium. During school closing hours, they would sneak into the school's kitchens and began transforming them into a brewery production lab. The malts were mashed, the hops boiled, the yeast inoculated, and fermentations were conducted in laboratory flasks. In short: the quest for potentially quality beers had begun. In 2010, the first commercial beer under the To Øl brand was produced. In 2012, To Øl made it onto Ratebeer's list of the top 100 producers in the world, and in 2014 it was awarded the 9th best brewery in the world. Since that first release, many crazy things have happened, but even high school loves can end. So, at the beginning of 2017, Tobias Emil Jensen left To Øl to focus on other projects.
