Westmalle is produced at the same pace as the abbey life. The brewery starts working only when the monks are ready in the morning to recite the first prayer together in church. And, despite the use of modern technologies and techniques, it is the men who make the final decision at every stage of our production process. In respect of the tradition and the best ingredients.
We carefully check our ingredients and our beer at every stage of the long production process. Our beer is a natural product based on five raw materials: selected and malted barley varieties according to our needs, a blend of different hops from renowned European regions, pure water, sugar, and the exclusive Westmalle yeast produced in-house.
We do not add stabilizers and do not pasteurize our beer. The yeast is a living element, which means there is always a possibility of evolution in the beers. This is an inherent nuance of our natural and traditional production process, highly appreciated by the best connoisseurs.
