Põhjala Brewery — From the Tallinn Shipyards, with the Soul of Estonia

Põhjala was founded as a beer firm in Tallinn, Estonia, at the end of 2011, by four passionate Estonian homebrewers. Shortly after, Scottish head brewer Chris Pilkington, with years of experience at BrewDog, joined the project.

Rapid Growth

• 2013 — the first beer, Öö Imperial Baltic Porter, was released. Initial production took place under contract at other breweries
• April 2014 — completion of the first brewery in the Nõmme district of Tallinn
• Late 2018 — production moved to the historic Noblessner shipyards area, by the sea north of Tallinn

Today, the brewery features state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and a taproom with 120 seats and 24 taps.
