Drunk Panettone
Drunk Panettone — Belgian Dark Strong Ale | Birranova, Triggianello (BA)
Born as a special holiday edition. It became a legend.
Drunk Panettone is one of the most celebrated and sought-after creations by master brewer Donato Di Palma of Birranova: a sumptuous Belgian Dark Strong Ale originally created as a special Christmas edition, inspired by the great Winter Warmer tradition of Northern Europe. A tribute to Italian panettone in liquid form — rich, enveloping, and made for contemplative drinking. Slow Food Snail Brewery 2025.
Sensory profile
Dark brown, with amber highlights and a fine, persistent head. On the nose, the aromas immediately evoke a festive atmosphere: caramel, candied sugar, dried fruit (raisins, prunes), liqueur-like nuances reminiscent of brandy, vanilla, and citrus. A rich, deep, enveloping aroma, like a freshly opened panettone. On the palate, the opening is soft, warm, and full-bodied: the sweetness of caramelized malt and biscuit fills the mouth, followed by warm alcoholic notes that proudly reveal the beer’s robust body. The finish delivers a long balsamic and fruity aftertaste that faithfully recalls the classic Christmas cake from which it takes its name.

Who is Birranova?
Birranova Brewery was founded in 2007 in Triggianello (BA), a small hamlet of Conversano in Puglia. Founded by master brewer Donato Di Palma with a clear idea: beer should convey sensations, on the nose and palate, without ever losing its drinkability. Head, heart, soul — three essential ingredients alongside water, malt, hops, and yeast. This project has led Birranova to gain recognition and appreciation beyond Italy’s borders, thanks to the many awards it has won over the years.
