Urbock
Urbock — Seasonal Smoked Bock — Schlenkerla
Urbock is the seasonal smoked Bock that Schlenkerla — the legendary Brauerei Heller-Trum of Bamberg (Bavaria, Germany) — produces every year during the cold season. Served from the cask in its tavern on Dominikanerstrasse in October and November, then bottles become available in December and January. Seasonality in Germany is no joke. Urbock is the older sister of the more classic Märzen, with a bit more body and warmth that make the smokiness even more integrated into the drinking experience.
Schlenkerla and Bamberg’s Smoked Malt
Schlenkerla is the most famous brewery in Bamberg, the Bavarian UNESCO city known for the tradition of Rauchbier (smoked beers). The malt is smoked with beechwood in their own malt house: a handcrafted process that gives Schlenkerla beers their unmistakable smoky profile, passed down from generation to generation since 1678.

Sensory Profile
The nose is unmistakable: the beechwood smoke emerges elegantly, accompanied by notes of dark malt, caramel, and toasted bread. The finish is long, smoky, with a pleasant lingering memory of beechwood.
