Brouwerij De Ranke — The Hop Shoot That Changed Belgium

De Ranke — literally "The Shoot" of hops — is one of the first Belgian breweries to have reversed the trend that was bringing increasingly less bitter and more industrial beers to glasses. It is no coincidence that the most famous creation of Nino Bacelle and Guido Devos is precisely the XX Bitter, born in 1996 as an act of resistance against standardized taste. Today the range is wide, but it only includes the use of whole hop flowers — without exceptions.
