Chimay Craft Brewery — Belgian Trappist Beer since 1850, on the Scourmont Plateaus

The story of Chimay begins in 1850, when the priest of Virelles, Abbot Jean-Baptiste Jourdain, and the Prince of Chimay, Joseph de Riquet de Caraman, entrusted a mission to a dozen monks from Westvleteren: to settle on the marshy plateaus of Scourmont with a purpose they still pursue today — "To help the Chimay region".

To fulfill this mission, the monks decided to brew beer using the water that nature generously provided. Later, they also created cheese. A thriving story lasting over 170 years, built on the shoulders of men and women who have worked and continue to work to preserve this ancestral savoir-faire.
